This week, we have begun to recognise numbers up to 1,000,000 by sorting, comparing and partitioning the numbers. We understand that each digit has a different value and what it means.
Take a look at these part/whole models together and ask your child if they can correctly identify the missing number.
Discuss how a counter can represent any amount of a number and then see if you child can write down the partition sentences remembering that each digit in a number has a different value.
Spellings
In LLC lessons this week, we have been looking at the spelling pattern of unstressed vowels 'i' and 'o' and also homophones . We have clapped out the rhythm of the spelling words to find the syllables. Then noticed the vowel in the word that is quiet. We used spell, speak for some words: bus-i-ness. We also wrote sentences with homophones in them and decided which would fit.
Here is the list of spelling words - your child will know which colour group they are in. You are welcome to practise any of the word lists. .
Write your spellings with different colours for each syllable e.g. sensible.
Red: Write your spellings and draw a picture next to each one to show what it means.
